Daly Canie

President

Daly is a lawyer with Diamond and Diamond and maintains a broad litigation practice with a focus on personal injury, insurance law and employment law. Daly was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, and received his B.A. in History from McGill University and his J.D. from Queen’s University. He was called to the Bar in 2018.

In his spare time, Daly enjoys golfing, hunting and staying active.  

Khalil Bheriani

Vice-President

Khalil is a lawyer originating from Toronto. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University, in Ottawa, Ontario. He went on to pursue a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.

Khalil obtained his LL.B. in 2016 and he articled with a criminal law firm in Toronto where he gained valuable experience. Khalil was subsequently called to the Bar in June, 2018 and continued to practice at the firm where he articled.

Khalil joined the EBS team in December, 2018 at the Timmins office, where he takes on litigation matters, with a focus on criminal law. Khalil brings his well-practiced research skills and advocacy for his clients. He is a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association.

In his spare time, Khalil enjoys traveling, playing sports and scuba diving. He is also an avid skier and a ski instructor.

A native of Montreal, Lucia is a graduate of McGill University and the University of Ottawa. She has been practising in Northern Ontario for more than 18 years, and Cochrane, ON is home.

Lucia is a skilled advocate, proud mother, and the Senior Legal Counsel of a respected practice with two junior associates, and offices in Timmins and Cochrane, ON. A gifted teacher, Lucia is an employer of choice, with a committed team of students, assistants and clerks. Lucia has trained many lawyers and sent them on to successful careers all over Canada.

Lucia is committed to her clients, and she travels all over Northern Ontario, in every kind of weather, while working for their best interests. Many of Lucia’s clients will attest that she is an uncommon lawyer, leading with equal parts head and heart.

Lisa Barazzutti

Lisa graduated from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law in 1999 and was called to the Bar in the Province of Ontario in 2001. She is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, and the Cochrane Law Association. She has also been involved in many non-profit organizations as a board member. Lisa has over 20 years of experience in the areas of family law, civil law, wills and estates, real estate and small business incorporation.  She also has experience in handling cases involving personal injury defence work.

Lisa achieves resolutions for clients through negotiation and mediation wherever possible and when required through litigation in the court system.

Nancy Cooper

Past President

Nancy E. Cooper is a criminal defence counsel, called to the Bar in 1992. Born and raised in Timmins, she graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law in 1990. She began her legal career as an articling student in Timmins at the firm of Racicot, Bonney in 1990, eventually becoming a full partner with the firm in 1997. Nancy acted as Supervisory Duty Counsel with Legal Aid Ontario from 2000 to 2003 and is now on the Provincial Board of Legal Aid Ontario since 2011.
